Keep Christa Climbing was founded to raise awareness and donations for Christa’s cause. As a little girl, Christa found the most enjoyment in rock climbing, and since the age of 10, she has been on some the most remarkable climbs to date.

On Thursday, February 4th, from 4pm-7pm Yogurtini will have FREE FROZEN YOGURT and will collect donations for the Keep Christa Climbing cause to assist in offsetting costs for medical bills, physical therapy, and prosthetic needs. At the Victoria’s Secret PINK HOPE Initiative at ASU’s Campus last week more than 100 clothing items were collected in 2 hours from ASU students to donate to UMOM, the largest homeless shelter in Arizona to help 112 families who are in transitional living in Phoenix.

This clothing drive was sponsored by Victoria’s Secret PINK in order to support the HOPE Campaign launched this fall to encourage college age women to support philanthropic efforts in their local communities.

“The PINK-a-licious campus event was a huge success at ASU! More than 200 college men and women came to support our philanthropic effort to support UMOM and enjoy some Yogurtini while we were at it!, said Teresa Foglia, Marketing intern for Yogurtini.

We love catching “the it girls” in Yogurtini. The ga-ga gorgeous Luann Petix was recently seen in Yogurtini so we had to ask her for a quick blog interview!

If you don’t know who Luann is, she is the founding editor in chief of DAMSEL MAGAZINE, had a long time career at Quiksilver and is currently the owner of Beau Branding and recently covered in this month’s issue of Coastal Living “Surfer Chicks” for all her summer beauty tips.

Natasha: Luann, your shots in Coastal Living are gorgeous. It looks like you are having a fun summer! Obviously you gave readers your summer beauty tips but we want to talk more about what you do to stay in shape and what’s on your daily menu!

Luann:: Thanks, the shoot was so fun and I love Coastal Living. Summer is my favorite time of year. Love the beach, but I love the heat, love Arizona, I go to Lake Havasu 10 times every summer, and I love Yogurtini, of course.

Natasha: How often do you eat frozen yogurt?

Luann: Every day, it’s a must.

Natasha: So, we have to ask, what Yogurtini concoction are you eating now?

Luann: Sometimes I like the plain boring stuff like Vanilla and Chocolate and I don’t feel the guilt because it is all non-fat….but when I am getting crazy I will do Peanut Butter and Cheesecake yogurt and pile on lots of brownie bits and cheesecake bites!

Natasha: Love it! Cheesecake is my favorite too but I cover it with graham crackers and even ground up girl scout thin mints. You do need to seriously try our new Acai’. OK, how do you stay in shape?? You were looking good in your L*Space fringe suit in Coastal Living!

Luann: To help me unwind I need a good cardio. I love spin class http://www.bike2thebeat.com. There is nothing like this style of workout. If I can’t make it to spin, I will jump on a treadmill and go for a run. The treadmill is easier than running outdoors, don’t know why?

Natasha: What is it about yogurt that you love so much and why we catch you in here all the time?

Luann: Well I love the variety at Yogurtini, you can’t get bored with this many toppings…but I like the probiotic aspects. Hey, we all want keep our digestion healthy! I decided to ask her what her health take is on YOGURT! She shed some light on a few things even we didn’t know!

Did you know that your body contains approximately 400 types of bacteria weighing approximately 3½ pounds?

Sounds nasty, I know, but most of these bacteria live in your gastrointestinal system where they play the vital role of metabolizing the food you eat. Less than one percent are pathogenic or toxic.

My good health, and yours too, depends upon maintaining a proper balance between various groups of bacteria, what scientists call “intestinal flora.”

Stress, the onset of a cold or flu, taking antibiotics, alcohol, bad food and even lack of sleep can throw off this balance. Even harmful things in the environment, such as mercury or lead, can do the same thing.

For me, eating yogurt is the best way to maintain this crucial balance. The reason, of course, and I know you all probably know this, is because yogurt contains “friendly bacteria” called “probiotics.”

When you eat yogurt on a regular basis the first thing you’ll notice is just how “regular” you are. It’s amazing really, but I won’t bore you with the details.

For me though, it’s much much more. The probiotics in yogurt boost my immune system which I think is the reason I hardly ever get a cold.

Scientists tell me there are even more benefits including increased lactose tolerance, better resistance to infections, improved HDL/LDL cholesterol ratio, anti-carcinogenic properties, inhibition of food pathogens, aid to liver function, and a hedge against osteoporosis.

But, for me, here’s the clincher. Yogurt prevents bad breath!
